Calligraphy is a type of visual art. It is often called the art of fancy lettering. As the sketching of human body or its part is prohibited in Islam religion so the Muslim artists used their creativity in the field of calligraphy. They wrote Quran Majeed in different Styles. So Muslims did a lot of effort in this field. Along Muslims, Chinese and other people also did a lot.

In modern calligraphy the elements (alphabets etc) are composed in both abstract and realistic ways to form new designs. Due to its importance, now the calligraphic art is more used in different fields of graphic Design i.e. Logo Design, wedding cards Design. Font design (typography). Motive designs are also done on base of calligraphic designs.
